Working in partnership with business owners, property owners, major institutions, government partners, residents and others, the Main Street Department seeks out projects that encourage the continuing revitalization of the historic heart of the community.
Projects include architectural design assistance, historic preservation assistance, a facade grant program, business consultation, development of the arts in Downtown Tyler and more. Volunteers work with staff to produce special events in the downtown area.
To date, revitalization efforts have resulted in more than $200 million in reinvestment in Downtown Tyler in terms of private-sector property purchases and property renovations in addition to public-sector projects. Downtown Tyler is also the proud recipient of 24 awards for downtown revitalization excellence through the Texas Downtown Association's President's Awards program.
